Cool! Grippies

SUPERDUMB BONUS! Get 10% off your order of two or more sheets of Grippies with code COOL10 through June!

***WINNER PICKED 5/22 WITH RANDOM.ORG*** ***CONGRATULATIONS, JenO!!!***
her comment: I would use them on baby socks since we have a decent amount of linoleum in this house. I also might use them on the bottom of some ceramics that were handmade for us, as they need something to protect the furniture, and this would keep them from sliding around, too. :)

Once in a while, I come across a product so simple and ingenious, I immediately ask myself "why didn't I think of that?" This one was dreamed up by two moms on their daily mass-transit commute who wondered why only some of their kids' socks and none of their tights had non-slip soles. Their solution? Grippies are little rubbery shapes that adhere to the bottoms of your socks or tights to provide traction on slippery floors. They come in self-adhesive and iron-on varieties. (I prefer the stick-on version because I am lazy and abhor ironing.)

Grippies are clear so they blend in on whatever they are rendering slip-proof. Each package contains 16 stars and sells for $5, so they are very affordable. Once adhered, Grippies are machine washable, actually becoming even more, umm, grippy. You could also use them on the palms of gloves or on the knees of your beginning crawler's pants or legwarmers. Heck, you could even stick them to non-clothing items that you want to stay in place. Baby dishes, vases, you name it. I am also contemplating trying them in high heeled sandals to prevent slipping in sweaty foot season.

Support mompreneurs and buy some Grippies!

To enter and win a Grippies gift set (a pack of iron-on and a pack of
stick-on GRiPPiES in a handy mesh wash bag), please comment on this post with your favorite use for Grippies would be.

Entries will be accepted through May 21st and I'll pick the winner using Random.org. All readers are eligible, internationally! (As Corrie, one of Grippies' founders points out "It's getting cooler in Australia now, no? Lots of cold tootsies in the house.") Only one entry/comment per person, please.

Make sure you leave an email address in your comment or that you have one accessible on your blog so you can be contacted if you win! Or, you may choose to check for your nickname at Prizey.Fetch, a new site that compiles winners in one convenient place:

Well, I would use the grippies on my kids' socks as we have hardwood floors and they are just too slippy to run on. Thanks for the great giveaway!

We have wood floors so we really need the extra gripping power. I would add them to socks, slippers, tights and anything else that goes slip.

Kiddo's socks for me too! The hazard area in my house is the kitchen (as the dogs are forever dripping water) and the bathroom.

Kristie said...

I would also use the Grippies on my little one's socks, so they don't slip on the floor.

I've been making cute baby shoes for my son and all of my friends who are having babies. These would be perfect for the soles to keep them from slipping as the little ones learn to walk!

EG said...

Yep, I too would use them the traditional way, on Little Man's socks. Right now he has to go barefoot in the house 'cause it's too hard to walk with socks on.

Jessie said...

I like your idea of trying them out in my summer high-heels...but I also think that as far as the bambina goes, I'd put them on her tights....those buggers are slippery!

A friend gave me a pair of homesewn fleece slipper/socks for Christmas. I love wearing them around the house in cold weather, and they'd be perfect with the addition of these Grippies. I'd also use them on my baby girl's socks.

Great on the boat to keep plates from sliding!

What a neat product! I would use the grippies on my little girls socks. When they are running around our house on the hardwood floors they often times slip and fall. I think the grippies would keep them from falling down so much. Thanks so much!

rosie said...

this is the best invention ever! i would use them on my daughter's tights. i never put her in dresses in the fall/winter because as soon as her shoes come off, her tights must too. we're in an apartment covered in wood floors so that's a lot of slipping!

Hmm, other than socks (great idea!), I would probably love to use them on the bottoms of my toddler's plates and bowls so they don't slide all over the table while she's eating. :)

mom2gabnnat said...

We have hardwood floors and it is near impossible to get my kids to wear slippers. These would be great to put on more of their 'bedtime' socks so they aren't slip sliding around so much.

toughturtles said...

good for my elderly aunt who cant fit slippers very well and put them on some socks for her

jennem said...

On DD's tights. She takes her socks off easily, but tights are a problem and then she slips.

coriwestphal said...

I would use them for yoga. I hate when my bare feet get sweaty and slippery so I would use these on my socks on my yoga mat.

Elena said...

I would definitely be putting these on socks and slippers, we have laminate flooring and I'm always afraid someone will have a colossal slipping accident. Such a clever product! Thanks for the contest!

Definitely my babies socks that don't already have them!

i'd put them on the soles of my boys' socks so they get some traction when they're running around causing havoc.

I would put them under the rug in the kitchen so it doesn't slide around when the dog comes flying through the back door, through the kitchen, and then the rest of the house. Thanks for the giveaway!!

I'd put them on my socks. So I can turn the corners better than my cat when I'm chasing her through the house. She really likes being chased and slidding on the floors.

Shelly said...

We could all use these for our slippery Saltillo tile floors

Heather said...

the kids socks for sure! Running around the kitchen table is oh so fun but too dangerous in this house!

Erica G said...

We would use them on knick knacks and breakables. We are going to have a new baby n the house. This would give us some added protection from things falling.

I would use some of the Grippies on my own socks since but I'd save a couple to put in my open storage area in my car. I put my sunglasses case and other objects in there but they drive me crazy sliding around when I drive. Grippies could solve that problem.

esper_d said...

My baby is learning to walk now and I will not use shoes with him until walking is totally established. However, he DOES use socks so this is such a cool invention!

I must have read too many comics at an impressionable age -- my absolute first thought on "How I'd use a set of Grippies" was on the order of "well, if I attach some to my gloves, and to the knees of my pants, I should be able to crawl up the side of tall buildings like Spiderman, right?"

Mollie G. said...

My husband gave me a non-skid pad to put on my dashboard, so my sunglasses, iPod, FastPass transponder, garage door opener, etc, wouldn't go sliding across the dash (and at least once, continue flying on out the window). THIS sounds like it would work as well or better. Also, these would be useful inside some waistbands, to keep blouses from pulling loose.

So I'm selfish. I hate shoes and I'm always running around the house in my socks. I have a couple of pairs that have non-slip bottoms, but most have none. I'd put them on my socks so I don't skate around the kitchen. Thanks for the contest.

These are great for the kiddos, but how about the older people in our lives? My mother will be 92 in June, and these would be great on her socks as well. She could use them on knick knacks and breakables. She could put some on a glove so she could pick up things to dust under and not fear them slipping out of her hand. I wionder how these would work on a blanket to keep the sheet and blanket together and keep her covered up better in the winter?
Thanks for the opportunity to win!
