What Goes Around, Comes Around

The clothes and gear my kids outgrow is either passed on to friends' kids, thrifted, or taken to a consignment store locally (where I can funnel any profits straight back into more clothes…). I recently admitted to myself that Jasper was NOT going to wear many of Roo's girly hand-me-downs and finally sorted through everything I'd ferreted away. I sorted out the best stuff and sent off several boxes to girlfriends in Montana and Spain. I love the idea that the things I thought were so adorable on my kids have another chance to be adored. And I love being reminded of them. Look how cute Roo was three years ago in her sailor top, and then check out how equally precious little Gabi is in it now:

To that end, The Parent Bloggers Network is having a blog blast today, introducing Zwaggle, a new online community dedicated to swapping your kid-related ephemera. It's essentially a barter board for parents that affords more security than Craigslist or Freecycle because it uses a point system ("zoints") instead of cash and requires membership (free). You can create Zwaggle groups if you want to share your stuff with specific people, specify local pick up only, or have your items shipped at the recipient's expense. I am so curious to see how it works.

If you're interested in signing up for Zwaggle (it's free!) now, you'll receive Zoints just for registering via this link. And if you share your "saving, sharing, simplifying" stories on your blog today, you'll be entered to win a $50 gift card from either Giggle or Patagonia, courtesy of The Parent Bloggers Network.
